Water vapour, oxygen, aromatics and other compounds permeate into and out of bottles, tubs, jars and tubes, degrading the shelf life and quality of the products and medicines they contain.  One of the prime culprits is the cap, top or seal.

Now Versaperm has introduced a permeability measurement system to solve this problem.  It can be used during both the design stage and for Quality control during production.

Producing the seals in tubs, vials, bottles, cans, jars, jugs, pails and drums is a tricky business.  Not only can over-tightening a lid actually allow more vapour through, but the material used for the top or seal is critical as both a physical barrier against liquids and for preventing the flow (permeability) of vapours.

Versaperm’s permeability meter measures this to a very high degree of accuracy – typically in the vapour and material under test.  The instrument can measure both samples of the material, the seal or cap and even the container as a whole.

As well as water vapour and oxygen, the equipment can optionally measure permeability for virtually any other gas or vapour.

Versaperm also offers laboratory and consultancy services to companies that need to test samples on an irregular basis.
